Icy Cold winter weather and the chills on a bike

From underneath my nails a sharp sensation runs up along my wrists, my arm into my shoulders and neck. Its cold. Its as if the icy wind finds his way through any possible opening. Only Dante’s nose and ears are sticking out. Its in the smallest of ever moments when I realize that just by being grateful makes a huge difference. I can feel the wind blowing against my nose, freezing but I can feel it. Its difficult to take my mind away from the fact that this can be a rather shitty place to be. The thoughts of sitting inside and staring into the fire in a fireplace with something hot to drink, taking a hot bath and climbing into a hot bed. But this here, the beauty of riding with the wind, talking to the trees and seeing the cattle turning their hind sides to the wind is exillarating and I am ecstatic to be alive. So often have I wished to be somewhere else rather than here where I am. Always wanting something else than what I already am experiencing.

Last goodbyes and back on the road...

As the dust settles behind the Clive Morris Productions van with the 50/50 crew after our interview, things happened fast. Last minute packing, final goodbyes to families and friends and we were ready to leave on the Ripples World Cup Promo run.

A trip in South Africa to join in on the magnificent vibe of our people, to share our stories and tell people that they too can make a change in their own environment to better the state of our water resources. Also a trip to get Liani back in the swing of things fo being on the road after the accident. With the knowing that this might be a very challenging journey with it being winter and we travelling through the Freestate, Kwazulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Western Cape and back via the Karoo to Johannesburg we set off with hearts filled with passion.

LOVING TREATMENT

Deep at the centre of my being there is an infinite well of love. I now allow this love to flow to the surface. It fills my heart, my body, my mind, my consciousness, my very being, and radiates out from me in all directions and returns to me multiplied. The more love I use and give, the more I have to give, the supply is endless. The use of love makes me feel good; it is an expression of my inner joy. Yes, I love myself, therefore I take loving care of my body. I lovingly feed it nourishing food and beverages. I lovingly groom it and dress it and my body lovingly responds to me with vibrant health and energy. I love myself, therefore I provide for myself a comfortable home, one that fills all my needs and is a pleasure to be in. I fill the rooms with the vibration of love so that all who enter, myself included, will feel this love and be nourished by it.

The Invitation

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive. It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain. I want to know if you can sit with your own pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human. It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true.

It was one of those "A-HAAA' moments when we met Charlene and Ronel who started Moonprint: Concerts for the Earth. It is alwasy amazing to meet ordinary people doing extraordinary stuff!! Ripples For Good are proud to be part of the Moonprint movement. Do your bit to keep our water resources clean and start recycling!!!

Albert Einstein said Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving.

Squatting with my back against the wall, my neck hanging heavy from my neck between my knees. I need to energize, I need to radiate loving, caring, harmonious energy. I am aware that I am totally functioning only on my senses, not putting mind into what I feel. United we are as we all either broken or standing on the threshold of promising what we’ll offer up for the one we love to heal. But all around me everywhere, queuing crowding, anxiously pushing, people are trying to get to the information or admission desk.

Ripples For Good Nominated by Mail & Guardian

Dear Maria and Liani,

Re: Your nomination for the Mail&Guardian’s “200 Young South Africans You Must Take To Lunch” supplement 2010

Congratulations – you have been nominated and short listed for the Mail&Guardian’s prestigious annual supplement which celebrates 200 of the best and brightest Young South Africans under the age of 35 in a diverse range of professional fields. You were nominated in the civil society category. The supplement will be published inside the Mail&Guardian, to coincide with Youth Day in mid-June.

OUR CRITERION

You will not find conventional celebrities in here. Sorry. Our criterion is wide and somewhat subjective -- these are people who have featured in the Mail & Guardian or who have been noticed by our team of writers for their excellence at their craft or their ability to lead. Our rule of thumb is that this is the generation that will define and lead the country in the future.

Positive thinking

Before I took a chance 6 years ago on finding meaning in life, I was living my life like a lot of people do. Fairly consciously but aware of the fact that I am not really conscious of what is going on. I often felt that life happened to me and that I had to make the most with that, which is happening to me. Many a times I thought and felt that I was a victim to life. Then along the way after a few times where Liani and myself visualized what we wanted and true’s God we received it not far into the future as well as now after Liani had her accident and my visualizations of her being healthy and vibrant I saw her miraculously recovering in less the time that most doctors anticipated. I remembered, all the many moments when we were in a “dangerous” space I felt scared to the point where I could barely breath where Liani taught me so much about having positive thoughts and believing that I am invincible to all bad.

Why should we bother about our water footprint?

Freshwater is a scarce resource; its annual availability is limited and demand is growing. The water footprint of humanity has exceeded sustainable levels at several places and is unequally distributed among people. Good information about water footprints of communities and businesses will help to understand how we can achieve a more sustainable and equitable use of fresh water.

Nelspruit, Swaziland and then the borderpost by Goba to Mozambique

Frustrated and confused by roaming and the only now and a again internet connectivity we decided to rather have the journey instead of missioning everyday to get internet. Meaning that we are behind schedule with our postings but with the help of Vodacom Mozambique and Skygistics ( Uni-Tech Moz Lda) we are picking up our simcards and hopefully we'll be uploading and keeping you up to date via our mobile phones.
