MAKING RIPPLES OF CHANGE IN WATER PRESERVATION WITH YAMAHA
Liani Broodryk and Maria Botha, together with their two Jack Russell’s, Dante and Katryn, are on a nationwide mission to create awareness about water sanitation, conservation and the sustainable use thereof. Under the umbrella of their “Ripples for Good” initiative, they are traversing the entire coastline of South Africa, including some parts of Mozambique and Namibia, carrying the message of preservation of our all too scarce water resources, and the effective sanitation of usable water for human consumption. The two ladies and their dogs will travel their 23000km epic adventure on board Yamaha AG 200’s, proudly sponsored by Yamaha Distributors South Africa. The tough 200cc four stroke machines are the ideal choice of machine for such a journey, with features such as electric starter, dual side stand, luggage racking front and rear, wide comfortable seat, low ride height, and of course that well renowned Yamaha reliability and performance to take them into the most remote and isolated places in Southern Africa. Eight months worth of planning finally saw the gallant party of four finally depart on their journey in December 2009, with the intention of making their way down the East Coast of Southern Africa, on an eventual circumnavigation of the entire coast line right up into Namibia. Said Fred Van Niekerk, General Manager of Motorcycles at Yamaha Distributors South Africa: We at YDSA are very proud to be associated with the Ripples for Good initiative. A worthy cause such as this should not be underestimated. Water is the most essential natural resource to the future sustainment of life on Earth, and it is already a far too scarce a commodity, largely through the ignorance of those that depend on it the most. The message carried by the Ripples for Good team is significantly worthy, and the fact that Yamaha have the ideal product to carry this message in the Yamaha AG 200, made the decision to support Liani and Maria’s campaign that much easier. We wish them all the success their efforts deserve and will be watching their progress keenly.” You too can follow the Ripples for Good team as they traverse our beautiful countryside by clicking on the “blog” link on their website: www.ripplesforgood.com.
